Recharge Cards

Overview

Recharge Cards are prepaid vouchers containing unique scratch codes that customers use to activate an internet package or pay an outstanding bill. Each card is tied to a specific package, and its value equals that package’s price. ISPbills supports both printed physical cards (distributed through retail points) and digital cards (sold online through the card distributor portal).

Recharge cards provide a flexible, cash-based distribution model — ideal for ISPs whose customers prefer to pay at local shops rather than through online banking.

Card Generation

Before any recharge card can be sold — whether physically or digitally — it must be generated in ISPbills. At generation time, the commission for the card distributor is defined.

Important: If no card is generated for a card distributor, the distributor cannot sell any cards online, because the commission amount must be set at the time of card generation.

Steps to Generate Recharge Cards

  1. Navigate to Recharge Card > Recharge Cards.
  2. Click “New Card” or “Generate Cards”.
  3. Fill in the following fields:
Field Description
Card Distributor Which distributor these cards belong to
Package The internet package this card activates (its price becomes the card’s value)
Commission The commission the distributor earns per card sold
Quantity Number of unique cards to generate in this batch

There is no separate denomination field — a card’s value is always the price of its assigned package.

  1. Click Generate. ISPbills creates the specified number of unique scratch codes.

Each distributor/package combination can hold a limited number of unused cards at once (1,100 by default). If that limit is reached, generate no more until the existing cards are sold; a batch larger than the limit is capped automatically.

Card States

A card is always generated already assigned to a distributor, so there is no separate “unissued” state. Each card carries one of these statuses:

State Description
Unused Generated and available in the distributor’s inventory, not yet redeemed
Used Redeemed by a customer; the card records the customer and the redeem date

While a redemption is being processed the card is briefly locked to prevent a second use; once accounting completes it becomes Used.

How Customers Use a Recharge Card

Through the Customer Self-Service Portal

  1. Customer logs in to the customer portal.
  2. Navigates to Recharge / Buy Package.
  3. Enters the unique scratch code from the card.
  4. The system validates the code and applies the package or balance to the customer’s account.

Through a Card Distributor

  1. Customer visits the distributor’s shop or contacts the distributor.
  2. The distributor logs in to the Card Distributor Portal.
  3. The distributor enters the scratch code and selects the customer account to apply it to.
  4. The package or balance is activated on the customer’s account immediately.

Downloading and Printing Cards

After generating a batch, open Recharge Cards and select Download Cards. Choose the distributor and optionally filter by card status, package, generated date, or used date.

The download page provides these formats:

  • Designed voucher cards (recommended) — a compact branded PDF at approximately half the size of the previous card design. Each voucher shows the package, price, data allowance, validity, distributor, support number, a QR code, and a clearly labelled RECHARGE PIN. It omits redundant headings so the PIN remains the visual focus.
  • Compact voucher codes (current) — the existing dense four-column PDF when the maximum number of PINs per printed page is more important than individual card presentation.
  • Excel / code list — a number-focused file for record keeping, reconciliation, or a separate mail-merge workflow.

Select PDF first to display the two PDF style choices. Review the distributor and filters before submitting; only cards matching them appear in the download. The QR code contains the recharge PIN for fast, accurate entry but does not redeem the card by itself.

Print designed vouchers at actual size to preserve their compact dimensions and QR readability, then distribute them through the assigned card distributor or retail point.

Digital Card Sales

Card distributors with portal access can sell cards digitally without needing physical printouts:

  1. The distributor logs in to the card distributor portal.
  2. They view their available card inventory (the cards generated and assigned to their account).
  3. When a customer purchases, the distributor selects the appropriate card and applies it to the customer’s account in real time.

Commission Tracking

Each card batch has a defined commission rate. ISPbills tracks:

  • Total cards generated per distributor.
  • Cards sold (used) vs. unsold.
  • Total commissions earned by the distributor based on cards sold.

Commission records feed into the Distributor Payments reconciliation process. See Distributor Payments for details.
