On this page
The Payment Link Broadcast feature sends customers a personalised SMS containing a direct link to your online payment page. Customers who receive the link can tap it to open a pre-filled payment form in their browser and settle their outstanding bill without needing to contact you directly. This reduces payment friction and encourages faster settlement of dues.
How It Works
When a payment link broadcast is triggered, ISPbills generates a unique payment URL for each customer. The URL directs the customer to the online payment portal where their account and outstanding amount are already populated. The customer selects a payment method and completes the transaction. Payment is automatically reconciled against their account in ISPbills.
Sending a Payment Link to an Individual Customer
To send a payment link to a single customer:
- Open the customer’s profile from Customers → Customer List.
- Click the Send Payment Link button (or find the option in the customer’s action menu).
- The message box is pre-filled with a generic greeting and the customer’s unique payment URL. Edit the wording if you like, but keep the link. The message is sent exactly as it appears.
- Click Send to dispatch the SMS immediately.
This is useful when following up with a specific customer who has an overdue balance.
Sending a Payment Link in Bulk
To broadcast payment links to customers who have outstanding (billed) bills:
- Navigate to SMS & Notifications → Payment Link Broadcast.
- The audience is customers whose payment status is billed. You can optionally narrow it to a single billing profile; otherwise all billed customers are included.
- Review the recipient count before sending.
- Type the message text. You do not add the link yourself — a unique payment URL is automatically appended to your message for each customer at send time.
- Send the broadcast. Messages are queued and delivered in the background in small batches, with at-most-once delivery so a customer is not messaged twice for the same run.
Message Template
Type only the wording you want; the personalised payment link is appended automatically after it. For example, if you type:
Dear customer, please clear your outstanding bill using this link:
each recipient receives that text followed by their own unique payment URL.
The message text is sent as typed — there is no per-customer name or amount substitution. Do not include a {payment_link} placeholder; the link is added by the system, not by a token.
Notes
- Each payment link is unique to the customer and expires after the customer’s bill is settled or after a configurable number of days, depending on your payment gateway settings.
- Customers do not need to log in to use the payment link; authentication is embedded in the URL.
- One SMS credit is consumed per recipient. Ensure your SMS balance is sufficient before broadcasting.
- The online payment gateway must be configured and active for payment links to work. Contact your system administrator if the payment link feature is unavailable.
